worth the trip. The tiny winery is an oasis set in the gold and
ironbark hills of Bailieston, midway between Nagambie and Rushworth.
Not far is the Rushworth State Forest, the historic Balaclava
open cut mine and Whroo Cemetery.

Garret Vineyard Estates: The Yarra Glen vineyard is
situated in the cool-climate Yarra Valley region of Victoria,
an area renowned for the quality of its premium wines. Yarra Glen
will, in the future, be the source of many new and exotic varietal
wines.

- Bendigo
Wine Region: The Bendigo Wine Region's wineries and
vineyards boast a proud history of producing top-quality wines.

the Calder or McIvor Highways, extending from Heathcote in the
East to Kingower in the West and South to Harcourt.

Pyrenees Estate: Set in the beautiful natural surroundings
with extensive landscaped gardens the Estate is a "must visit"
location. The winery features tours of the "cave", the underground
cellars, a wine tasting centre, superb lunches on weekends and
public holidays, picnic facilities, art displays and a shaded
Petanque Piste. The winery produces four different wine ranges
- Blue Pyrenees Estate Reserve Wines, Blue Pyrenees Varietal Wines,
Leydens Vale and Fiddlers Creek. If you travel west from Melbourne
through the historic town of Ballarat and then continue for another
70 kilometers along the Sunraysia Highway you will arrive at the
sleepy little town of Avoca.
|
- Brown
Brothers: Brown Brothers produces the largest range of varietal
wines in Australia. Over many years of study they have identified
the ideal growing sites for different varieties among the extraordinarily
diverse climatic conditions of the King Valley. They have developed
pioneering techniques in winemaking with the Kindergarten winery,
a research and development facility exploring new processes and
re-assessing traditional methods.
|
- Coldstream
Hills: Situated in the cool and beautiful Yarra Valley,
about one hour's drive east of Melbourne, its steep, close-planted
vineyards have become a signature of the region. So too have its
wines (most notably Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs) which reflect
a climate cooler than Bordeaux and a little warmer than Burgundy
|
- Diamond
Valley Vineyards: Since the first release in 1982, Diamond
Valley Vineyards has enjoyed outstanding acclaim for its wines,
amassing a tally of medals quite out of proportion to its tiny
size, and justifying the Lances' insistence on Quality before
Quantity. The hillside vineyard in Melbourne's Yarra Valley
is blessed with pure air, bathed in sunlight and is a haven for
kangaroos and native birds.
